"And another thing ..."
"The reason half the world feels lonely is because the other half is pretending to be perfect."
I'm Julia ...
L to R, Mary, Caitlin, C.
I laughed so hard the entire time.
Mary and I are at the Gotham comedy club - her idea, and a good one!
Overheard at Sara's birthday party
“It’s so over. He said ‘I hate you’ at Nobu! WHO SAYS ‘I HATE YOU’ AT NOBU?!?”Fred Rogers, in Life’s Journeys According to Mister Rogers
Thank you to Bridget for this wonderful, precious book. I am reading it now and his quiet, simple wisdom is making my heart sing.
“I remember one of my seminary professors saying people who were able to appreciate others - who looked for what was good and healthy and kind-were about as close as you could get to God - to the eternal good. And those people who were always looking for what was bad about themselves and others were really on the side of evil.
‘That’s what evil wants,’ he would say. ‘Evil wants us to feel so terrible about who we are and who we know, that we’ll look with condemning eyes on anybody who happens to be with us at the moment.’ I encourage you to look for the good where you are and embrace it.”
Life’s Journey’s According to Mister Rogers
I am not religious in the traditional sense, but this rings very true to me.
From Mreeco
I just spit up my water laughing at that.
- Julia: What was your first impression of me?
- Dan: That’s hard to remember, it was more than 10 years ago ... but I remember thinking that you were not very good at debate. You didn’t seem to care about winning, which I thought was weird.
- Julia: HAHAH Yeah, I didn't give a shit about winning.
- Dan: The next time I saw or talked to you, you called my house from the [high school] debate office and I thought you were loud, and brave (to call a stranger and ask him to a dance) and easy to talk to.
- Julia: That WAS brave of me. Asking a boy out! So forward!! I'm glad I did it.
- Dan: I'm glad you did too.
- Julia: Awww, sappy! Okay, cancer-talk time.
- Dan: groan.
pink shoes, reblogged from mandybea
I LOVE this!!!!!!!!! I am totally going to wear bright pink heels on my wedding day sometime in 2013 (you probably think I’m being sarcastic, but I really, really don’t want to get married for at least five more years. AT LEAST.)
Lilly right now.
Lilly is much more like a cat than a dog. As far as I can tell, she sleeps 23 hours a day. It’s unbelievable.
What I want to do = get a massage
What I’m going to do = eat Amy’s Kitchen lasagna, then head over to Krystal’s for our friend Sara’s “20-something” birthday. Sara was the sales & marketing director for Cynthia Rowley until last week (she quit) and she gave me the most adorable sea green Rowley dress for Christmas this year. She is also gorgeous, and a spitfire. I mean, wow. Do not mess with this woman. She’s strength embodied. It’s very inspiring.
At the CW shoot today, Centro Vinotecca in the West Village. It was hysterical, I was “set up” on a date with the HOT (Dartmouth grad!!) host of CW Now, Chris Balish, by famous (infamous?) matchmaker Janis Spindel, and the entire thing was filmed.
Nothing like cameras in your face during a first date!! When I (idiotically) did Elimidate back in 2005, I found their presence incredibly, incredibly awkward. It’ll never be totally comfortable, but I was able to ignore them in a way I probably couldn’t have before all of segments I’ve done in the last two years.
That having been said, I would like to reiterate how much I will never, ever, ever be an actress. I am incapable of saying even a single line and sounding real. So much for “fake” reality!
(PS. I love doing this … here’s my outfit! J. Crew headband, J. Crew cashmere sweater - on sale now!, DVF skirt, Isaac Mizrahi for Target belt, H&M tights, Steve Madden shoes, Chanel purse.)
HAHAHAHAH. Yes, last night I actually slept between the hours of 2 am and 7:30 am. It was incredible. I plan to sleep again tonight, as my editor won’t get the revise notes back on my piece until 5:30 pm Saturday.
I also took a shower today. So much excitement all at once!
On my way to a taping for the CW network’s show “CW Now.”
Mary, I’m wearing the earrings you gave me for Xmas!!!
